Champagne

France

J de Telmont is one of the very few family-owned and run Houses remaining in Champagne.  Brother and sister Bernard and Pascal L’hopital manage the 30-hectare estate in the most environmentally sensitive way, and possible a growing portion of their land is cultivated organically. They strive for fruit, richness and elegance in their wines, and these characteristics are very evident in the three cuvees selected by me. The Grande Reserve is extremely fine and makes an excellent aperitif or partner to seafood or white meat; the Grand Rosé is citrussy with grapefruit, raspberry, strawberry and grape aromas, a special aperitif and a good match for seafood, grilled lamb or duck and fruit-bases desserts; and the Grand Vintage 2005, made exclusively in the finest years and from the juice of the first press, stands out for its refinement and elegance. It goes well with rich fish dishes, poultry, grilled meats and aged cheeses.
